On 26th October, Professor Lucio Fuentelsaz presented the 2021-2022 edition of the GEM Aragón Report at CEPYME Aragón. This report has been prepared by the GEM Aragón team (made up mostly of members of the LIDEERA group and led by Lucio Fuentelsaz and Consuelo González) and the Catedra Emprender of the University of Zaragoza, in collaboration with the Fundación Aragón Emprende and the Government of Aragon.

The GEM project is an international monitor that annually analyzes the entrepreneurial phenomenon, developing global, national and regional reports. The 2021-2022 edition is the fourteenth consecutive year that it has been held in Aragon.

From the presentation of the report we can highlight the following data: (1) the total entrepreneurial activity rate in Aragon is 4.2% (similar to the previous year, although lower than the 5.5% in Spain), (2) the established entrepreneurial rate is 7.8% (lower than the 9.7% in 2020, but similar to the Spanish average), (3) the potential entrepreneurial rate is 7.1% (1.6 percentage points higher compared to last year, while the Spanish average stands at 9%), (4) the rate of entrepreneurship is similar for men and women (which does not usually happen in other geographical contexts, where the entrepreneurial rate of men is higher), (5) the likelihood of creating a new venture increases with the educational level.
