On Monday, October 21, the presentation of the GEM Aragón 2023-2024 report by Lucio Fuentelsaz took place at the CEPYME headquarters. Maria Jesús Lorente Ozcáriz, president of CEPYME Aragón, and Ana Sanz Campos, general director of SMEs and Self-Employed of the Government of Aragón, as well as the “creativist” Iván Redondo, also participated in the event.

Some of the main results derived from the report are the following:

·     The Entrepreneurial Activity Rate (TEA) reached 5.4% in 2023, which represents an increase of 8% compared to 5.0% in the previous year.
·     Potential entrepreneurship grows significantly, reaching 8.8%, the highest value in the series.
·     Although the emerging entrepreneurship in Aragon is lower than the national average, the sum of emerging and consolidated entrepreneurship places us at levels similar to the national average (13.3% in Aragon, 13.5% in Spain).
·     The failure rate in our community is only 1.1%, much lower than Spain (2.2%).
·     The female entrepreneurship rate is similar to that of male entrepreneurship. However, the investment of companies created by women is clearly lower.

Regarding the main recommendations that were raised in the presentation, highlighting the need to promote digital transformation and the adoption of sustainable practices by new companies, facilitating access to adequate sources of financing, both for the creation of new companies and for their growth or promoting and publicizing successful entrepreneurial projects, given their impact from the point of view of promoting new initiatives.
