Vázquez is Professor of Management at the University of Vigo. After graduating from the University of Santiago de Compostela, he pursued a doctoral program at IDEGA, supported by the EU-sponsored ETIC courses, with training periods in Maastricht and Strasbourg. On May 10, 2002, he earned a European Doctorate in Business Organization. His academic career included research stays at institutions such as Århus Business School, UNISINOS, ISCTE, CRIC, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and Universidad Carlos III.
His research agenda is positioned at the intersection of business strategy, innovation, and operational excellence, particularly focusing on organizational responses in these areas to climate change. This research has also enabled him to collaborate with both public and private entities. Among the public entities, notable are the Inter-American Development Bank, the Consortium of the Free Trade Zone of Vigo, and several departments of the Galician Government. His collaborations with companies span the food, textile, pharmaceutical, software, and automotive sectors, including companies such as Altran, Jealsa, Pescanova, Stellantis, and Syngenta, as well as technology centers like TECNALIA and CETMAR.
